Mobile Initiative Helps Grant Local Child’s Wish to Meet Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

When we began putting together our business model at Mobile Initiative the first question we asked ourselves was, how can we give back to our community? It was an obvious yes when we were faced with the opportunity to partner with the Make-A-Wish® Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana chapter. Make-A-Wish® is a nationally recognized non-profit organization but by partnering with the Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana chapter we are able to give back to children in our own communities who are fighting life-threatening medical conditions.

With our partnership we are donating 15% of the proceeds from the purchases of our first mass-market product, the Ethos a smartphone that runs on Google’s Android operating system and includes no manufacturer-installed software.

A few months ago we heard about Derron, a 5-year-old Louisville-area Make-A-Wish® child who had been diagnosed with short gut syndrome. His wish was to meet his all-time favorite comic characters, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. We decided as a team to kick-off our campaign with Make-A-Wish® and donate $8,000 to help make Derron’s wish come true and send him and his family to California. Before Derron and his family’s departure, we threw them a surprise Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle-themed send-off party at Malibu Jack’s in Louisville.

We are so excited to work with our local Make-A-Wish® chapter and plan on continuing our efforts and make kid’s wishes come true by raising even more funds.
